Isola delle Correnti

Isola delle Correnti is a small island with a round shape, which extends for about 10,000 square meters, reaching a maximum height of 4m above sea level.
Connected to Portopalo by a fine stone path, it enchants for its wild and uncontaminated beauty.
During your itinerary, you’ll admire the few signs of the passage of man, which are represented by the picturesque lighthouse, a small military structure in disuse and a few houses where once the lighthouse keeper lived with his family.
The island, for its position, represents a sort of ideal boundary between the Ionian and the Mediterranean Sea. The currents generated by the encounter of these two seas give life to ripples and colors in continuous evolution … hence the name “Isola delle Correnti”.
